PostSubject: Eligor Rig   Wed Aug 22, 2012 8:56 pm

Alright. If the name looks suspiciously similar to "Eli Grigor", then... Well, let me explain:

I was talking to Ash over Skype about the name a bit and she said that though the two words ("Eli" and "Grigor") are Hebrew in origin, the combination ("Eli Grigor") is "very English"

Now, I had no leads on the name "Eli Grigor", and when Ash made that comment about how the two words were put together, I figured that something about the name was a bit... off.

Then it hit me: maybe the "name" was a clever anagram for the REAL name!

So I spent some time going through different letter combinations using the same scheme of three letters in one word and six in the other (the same as in "Eli" (three letters) and "Grigor" (six letters") but with the additional "rule" that the two words could be in any order (three lettered word then six lettered word, or vice versa).

After some unjumbling, I ended up with "Eligor Rig"...

Here's what I DO know about the name from the little bit of research I've done:

Eligor (also known as Eligos or Abigor) is a demon mentioned in the Lesser Key of Solomon. Reading the description provided on Wikipedia... gave me a rather odd chill...:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_demons_in_the_Ars_Goetia#Duke_Eligos

And then "Rig"—at least in Danish—means "rich" or "wealthy", both in a monetary sense. It apparently comes the Old Norse word, "ríkr" meaning "rich"

Now, I have several questions... *sighs* I will number them:

1. What do Eligor and the word "rig" (the Danish word) have to do with each other, if anything? Is there a relation between the two?

2. Assuming that "Eligor Rig" is indeed the whole name, who is he? Does anyone know/remember, and can anyone offer any information on him?

3. (somewhat similar to both the first and second questions) If the name is actually just "Eligor" and the word "rig" is there becuse it has some of relation to Eligor, then does anyone know/remember who Eligor is, and can anyone offer any information on him?

If anyone is able to answer, it's very much appreciated; "Eli Grigor" has been nagging at me ever since I remembered it—like it's something very important that I HAVE to remember—and now that I've gone with the assumption that it's actually some sort of anagram, I'm hoping that maybe I have the real thing now, something that I might be able to get information on.

When I see Eli Grigor. My first thought is that the second word should be Grigori.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_%28deity%29

Eli to me means the god El while Grigor as wishglow states is the Grigori which were us long ago.

El was a god of the desert but to me, in the picture of the mosaic piece it also shows him as a creator (Geneticist) due to the phallus symbol used!

Sorry that I went to Wikipedia but I always find it of great help in the gathering of information as a backup to help further the breadth of the search. I love you

The name doesn't seem right to me. It's almost like you've overthunk it and come up with something that could be a name but not anyone we know.

@Fibreya

Maybe I did overthink it. I'm really not sure what to make of the name either way. The name actually being Eligor Rig is more a theory than anything to be honest. However, I do know that the name that original name that came to me was—in fact—Eli Grigor. In any case, thank you very much for responding. ^^

@Ousa and Ish

Thank you for responding as well. =)
