While I was 'working' in Egypt I was known as Haneru, the more Egyptian sounding form of Haniel.

Does that ring any bells? Razz

The name does some familiar to me but it is the name Haniel that rings the bell for me. From the image I got Haniel was someone I came across in my travels and may have worked with for a short time or was someone I asked for help with a task.

I believe I mentioned this at one point, but I'll mention it again: the name "Haniel" DOES ring a bell, but at the time I mentioned it, I was unsure in what way. "Haneru", in that regard, also sounds somewhat familiar. Now that I think about it though—similarly to how Uzziel remembers you—it feels like we worked together at some point. However, it feels more like you worked under my command temporarily rather than as complete equals. Do you perhaps recall ever working for Bastet at any point while in Egypt? I vaguely remember being incarnated as her at one point.

I was a worker of Sekhmet. I think that's why I'm a Daughter of Her in this life.

I don't want to sound rude, but I'm doubtful that you were Bast. I'm a Kemetic Pagan and Bast is one of my Beloveds (a Goddess that I work closely with). I'm doubtful of anyone claiming that, so please don't think it's you personally X3
Bast is actually the same goddess as Mut and Bast-Mut and Mut-Bast, so the way Egyptian gods work, it would be very difficult to actually BE them.

@Capsha

Don't worry, I understand. I don't think you're coming off as rude; just skeptical, and rightly so.

Hmm... If that's the case though, then maybe you can help me figure out this memory?:

I remember that I was once this anthropomorphic-looking lioness-like being with a long black mane and a head and face that looked more like a domestic cat's than a lion's. I remember having a scythe at the time, but it looked a lot more like a farmer's scythe than my normal scythe. I remember some sort of war going on and an enormous serpent made of sand rose from the desert, which I ran towards, then leapt up and slashed it down. Then while everyone else was distracted by the fighting going on, I ran inside a pyramid. Then I put my large paw/hand on one of the walls and chanted something. Then I remember seeing a group of three pyramids briefly glow with a purplish light. That memory leads me to believe that I cursed the Great Pyramids of Giza.

Would this sound familiar in any way, Cap? If not Bast, then do you have an idea as to who I might have been back then? I'm really curious if you might happen to know because I'm kinda lost at the moment. XD

It might be worth looking into the fact that it's debated that the Netjeru had minions, so to speak, but I can't remember the Kemetic term for them. Basically a Netjer (let's use Wapawet as an example) wanted to connect to/on Earth, he would send one of these minions who looked similar and acted similar to him. It's like a puppet!

Bast was the Goddess of cats, and she's known as the cat-headed woman of Egypt. She didn't have a mane but there's nothing to support that, it's just down to different interperetations. She was an incredibly maternal Goddess and would never be involved in war or slaying or plotting. I don't think she had much to do with farming, though I'll come back to that.

Originally she was viewed as the protector goddess of Lower Egypt. As protector, she was seen as defender of the pharaoh, and consequently of the later chief male deity, Ra, who was also a solar deity, gaining her the titles Lady of Flame and Eye of Ra.

Her role in the pantheon became diminished as Sekhmet, a similar lioness war deity, became more dominant in the unified culture of Lower and Upper Egypt.

It's been rumored that she fought a snake but a lot of Kemetics, myself included, assume that this was Wadjet-Bast rather than Bast.

She later became identified with the war goddess of Lower Egypt, Bast, who acted as another figure symbolic of the nation, consequently becoming Wadjet-Bast. In this role, since Bast was feline, Wadjet-Bast was often depicted with a lioness head. Neither Bast nor Wadjet-Bast should be confused with Sekhmet, a lioness-headed war Goddess.

Unfortunately the memories don't ring a bell and I haven't heard of those as stories within the Pagan community. Alezandra (my Kemetic headmate) was a Priestess of Bast so she'd probably be the better one to speak to! XD

All the Netjeru had followers. Perhaps that's something for you to look into. I know that I changed form from a Judo-Christian angelic to a thericephalite creature when I worked for Sekhmet.
