Hello. I'm Therian-ish. Empty
PostSubject: Hello. I'm Therian-ish.   Hello. I'm Therian-ish. EmptyThu Dec 01, 2011 3:09 am

So, I think it was about time I became more active within the otherkin community. I've been lurking around for a while, so... There goes an introduction.

I go by Lawyer or Lyka, I am 22, female, and a Law student from Luxembourg. I have also resided in the Uk, and now reside in Greece, and have previously been studying Natural Sciences.

Now, as to whether I am kin or not... Good question. I am certain there is something there, but I am very reluctant to identify myself as "therian" or with any other label for that matter, even though "therian" is the closest I can think of.

Since a very young age, I have grown up around dogs and cats (but mostly dogs), since my aunt is a professional breeder, and have always thought of them in a similar way as I think of humans. They've always been my family. Never thought of them as a different species than me (but neither did I think humans different from me, either).

Neverthless, I never had issues adapting into human society. Throughout my life, I maintained a terribly close connection to my animals (which I think of as family), and had a wicked understanding of how their minds worked, especially my dogs. Even with strays, I could always communicate easily, and I trusted them, and they me. However, I never thought that made me different than other people. I mean, I'm just a human that rolls around in the mud with my puppies, right? And can understand "dog". And has a slightly "doggy" mindset.

It was not until the tragic death of my most precious dog, Yeti, that I felt something different trigger inside me. I felt as if part of her (Yeti and I were frighteningly close, an uncanny case of dog/human "telepathy". Sometimes I felt as if she was an externally manifested part of me, like a limb or something) buried itself into my soul. Since that time, I have felt a dog side grow inside me, which IS me and at the same time isn't, and which often functions as a guide.

At first, I dismissed it as an emotional defense mechanism, an attempt to keep my late dog alive within me, being the rational scientist that I am. But it was not like that. It felt like the trigger than lifted the veil over something I had felt my entire life. lately, it has become even more intense. When I spend time with my animal family, I feel myself drift away from my human mindset completely, and if talked to by a human, I might even need a few seconds to snap out of it and adapt to human codes of communication.

Erm, that's it. /end rant

That's awesome. often times it takes a shock for us to realize who we are or start searching for who we are. I think that when we become too comfortable we stop growing, friction is needed for growth, so obviously your trigger was the passing away of a pet so beloved. I myself am celestial, I can relate to elementals but work much better with devas. We all have a slot to fill, I can't relate to animals at all... except cats and horses, they have ties to the celestial. If i were you I would do more searching on the net, look for more forums because you can never have enough research and help. I enjoy reading the experiences of others especially when I can relate.

welcome, Smile

Greetings Lawyer and welcome to the forum,

thanks for your introduction they can be difficult to write, so we all do appreciate you jumping in and making a start. This forum is for all Kin, so I am pleased you felt comfortable enough to step forward and begin getting to know us all. As you look through the forum, feel free to post in current threads or start new ones, and if you have any problems or difficulties in the forum, just pm one of the Moderators or Admin and we'll do our best to help as quickly as possible.

It is unfortunate that the trigger that helped to begin your awakening was through pain and trauma, but that is how it seems to be for many of us. Perhaps we need to be in that state of heightened awareness for the energy to flow and the memories to be unlocked. But once the process has started it will always continue....... there may be short breaks where we need to immerse ourselves fully in the mundane world for a while, but soon we are called back to our spiritual and inner growth and evolution.

Welcome!!

Az

Very Happy Thank you all for the warm welcome. Indeed, it sometimes takes trauma to get someone to think about themselves, and issues that they want to supress, such as therianthropy.

Anyway, I am also very intrested in celestials and angelkin, even though I have no such characteristics myself, so I am certain that my stay in this community will be very fascinating.
