PostSubject: Swords   Thu Oct 13, 2011 8:27 pm

I just got mine back, and would really like to reassure myself that all the angelics here have theirs too. I never knew what an essential thing it is for us. It's not just a weapon, or tool: it's really more like a part of our bodies, and no one and nothing else will do.

Obviously, I'm not talking about physical swords here. They're spiritual, now, but I'm also wondering if at one point they were physical objects. If so, what do you think happened to them? Or, could the energy simply have been more concentrated and solid, like our wings were?

I'd love to see a whole discussion of swords in general, so have at it!

To me the sword symbolism itself speaks of: Solidarity, Defense, Clarity, Power, Honor and Force. Most perceptible is the symbolism of protection, honor and justice embodied in the blade of the sword.

To me metaphysically speaking the sword is symbolic of the penetrating power of the mind, and encourages the wielding of trained intellect to bring about the results we seek.

Also the making of a sword incorporates all these elements: Earth, Fire, Air, Water.

To us all this is a powerful point as it confirms the energetic pattern of the sword presents wholeness, balance, totality, and the unification of all resource to form a tightly focused beam of force (energy).

This is what we are seeking and trying to solidify in our day to day this well before we can even go forward as a whole.

From what I remember, the Sword we each had was a physical representation of our energy, like you say, as it was with our wings. But what could happen was that this energy, the Sword, could be taken........ can't remember if it was just through the Fall or in some other way.

I don't have my Sword in this life,

Crying or Very sad

I've always loved swords. I think I knew what mine looked like shortly after first awakening. I've been wanting to reproduce it in the physical but my standards are incredibly high, and I don't know if anyone would be able to do it justice. Even if it looked the same.. it would still be lacking all that energy... hm.. =/
I don't feel like I've lost my sword. Seems like it's still there. I couldn't even imagine not having it, would be like losing a limb. So my heart goes out to you on that, Az. I hope you find your sword again soon. And I'm so glad that you got yours back, Scratch.

As you all said, our Swords match us and our energy. They are more than a limb, they are a part of our Soul.
My Sword, for example, is a straight double-edged sword. Silverish in color. There is blue cloth wrapped around the handle with silver thread. There are many other little details that are too hard to describe right now.. but it matches me perfectly.

Az, after I posted my original reply, I was still thinking about what you said.... And I started seeing something, a Sword. It's very dark. I think its blade is all or mostly black and the hilt area has red highlights that might extend onto the blade itself. It was in the shadows so it was hard to see detail, it might even be producing its own black mist/shadowy stuff, not sure. Its shape and energy feel strong, powerful, even sinister, yet it is very beautiful. It is perfect for an Angel of Death. *grins*

Hehehe I'm pleased it sounds like it would suit me.......... and it's interesting that my Sword is now visible to others. I now know it has been found and is safe keeping until I am ready to take it back. That time is not now, but hopefully it will be very soon

I hope so too! There are all kinds of reasons to cross blades, and many of them have nothing to do with fighting. I'm looking forward to doing that with you again.

It suits you very well, Azaz'el, and I'm sure it wants to be back with you. I'm so glad it has been found and is in very safe hands now. However, the only hands it belongs in are yours. All you need to do is reach out and grab it. I hope you don't mind my asking, but why don't you think you are ready yet? I respect your decision, of course, but I suppose I don't really understand. If I had lost my sword, I would want it back as soon as possible.

I'm sure you understand this view already, but I feel the need to share it regardless.
People often give things like Death a bad rap. But to me, it is as good, important, and necessary as Life and Rebirth. There would be no rebirth without death. There would be no change, no growth or development. Things would become stagnant. Without death, nothing would come to an end. The unnecessary would continue on forever, plaguing everything and pulling it down. Death is a transition. Without death, people would be stuck in their bodies, unable to move on to the next world or to their next life where they would continue to learn and grow. When given at the right time and place, as you knew how to do, death can be the greatest gift of mercy and compassion. Death heralds the end of an age, so that a new one may begin. <3

you know, it's very odd, but in one of my first memories i received in this life was of myself holding a sword. mind you, i'm not entirely sure if it means that i have my sword in my possession (though admittedly i have no idea what such a thing would entail), but i think i can describe it to you all.

in the memory, it looked sort of like a modified Egyptian Khopesh, wit the straight edge only for a few inches along the bottom, near the hilt, before a very pronounced angle outward for an inch or two, followed by the rest being a shallow curve back to the same level as the part emerging from the hilt. it was a blue/green color, like oxidized copper or bronze, but polished like a proper blade, with a handle wrapping of a similar color.

though, when i think of my "sword" now... i get a very similar shape, only a bit closer to a traditional Khopesh, polished white/silver blade, with a rectangular hilt, and a crimson handle wrapping, with gold trim on it, as well as a bit trailing off the end near the pommel. i suppose the swords would change as we did, hm?

Cool, Raz! I guess it would make sense if swords changed as we did.

Last night I was guided in to meditation by some pixies (not really sure what else to call them). The main one kept saying that they wanted to heal me. Most of the meditation was random images and scenarios and symbols, none of which stayed around long enough to remember. My energy was also doing some interesting things. I had gone down into the center of the earth and then back up a few times. The last time there was this bluish energy like a shield around me, but the top of it was shooting up into the air. And then very unexpectedly, a brilliant Sword shot out of the Earth and also out of me through my chest and into the air hilt first. And then hung up there, floating. It has a white-gold hilt with some amethyst jewels in it. The blade is straight double-edged and looks like it's made out of amethyst. It is white amethyst at the hilt and becomes darker until it reaches a deep rich purple amethyst at the tip. I felt like I should know this sword and its owner like I know my own self and almost thought it was mine except that I already have a sword, unless... *ponders* The feeling I get from the sword and the person it belongs to are brilliant light and love and I feel like they would be on the level of the Morning Star before his Fall. But no Shadow names are coming to mind. It might not even belong to a Shadow.. I have two guesses as to who it might belong to, if it's not me. I'll talk to them today and see if it fits either of them.

My feeling about your swords is that they are parts of your bodies - sor tof the key to your reactivation and your power as it were. They hold the sum of your potential, while the sum of your "being" is in yourselves, always, your potential was formed before you were born and is available to you at anytime through the use of this "tool." Separate from you so that you do not overwhelm yourselves!!!!

*chuckles* i know this is very silly, but a weird, pop culture comparison of our situation just popped into my head! i have been an avid follower of a certain manga/anime titled Bleach, which is about the Japanese myth of the Shinigami (literally "Death god"). in it, there is a main character, a human, with high spiritual energy; he has the ability to see, hear, and interact with ghosts as though they were still alive. this all changes when he meets one of these Shinigami, and eventually he learns more about them. this is where it gets eerie.

the Shinigami are ruled by a caste system, where the politics are decided by a ruling council, which votes on the actions of their race as a whole, where they usually consult the heads of every division of their military power, 13 in total.

also, each Shinigami has a sword, a very unique, special sword with powers unique to the individual. no two swords are ever exactly alike; maybe very similar, but never duplicates. altogether, it's worth checking out, but the sword parallel just occurred to me, and sort of struck me as being very similar to how our society was run, as a Human spirit becoming a Shinigami is not only frowned upon, it's completely and utterly tabboo.

Happy Reading!~
Raz

I've always felt myself drawn to more curved swords such as katanas, personally. This topic is quite interesting. Razz

Having re read the topic, it occurs to me that there are many peoples who believe the sword contains a soul; either its own or a portion of that of its wielder. There is also a rich tradition of spirit swords ie the swords themselves are made of spirit.

Indeed! If memory serves, a samurai's katana was their most prized possession! They believed that it's metal was forged with the spirits of their ancestors too, if I'm not mistaken. I may have to reread a few things. lol!

I find the whole thing fascinating. I have a real affinity with swords. When I was fighting in re enactment I was much better with the sword than any other weapon. It just felt 'right' in my hand and I like using swords in ritual too.

*spits out coffee* Holy crap, Ish! I didn't wield a sword, but that describes Luruuskaani to a T! As I'm sure I've already mentioned ad nauseum, she's a scythe who was forged from my own soul and the spirit within her is derivative of my own.

But I never gave it much thought until you mentioned it, to be honest. ^^"

Although the tradition of spirit weapons mainly relates to swords, there's absolutely no reason why they can encompass other weapons. I, personally, would find it difficult to imagine a gun forged of soul energy. It's just too impersonal. But a scythe, or spear.... actually there is a mythical soul spear, I think... or knife, or, I guess, anything that can be seen as an extension of the person wielding it.

The Japanese seem to be tapping in to this energy a lot. They have myths about spirit weapons. There's an anime where each person has their own spirit weapon, that actually takes human form when not being used.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_Eater_(manga)

Everyone is trying to collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch to enable their weapon to be turned into a Death Scythe. It's an entertaining anime.

I think Japanese manga/anime has much greater esoteric depth than Western animation and probably even more than many watchers appreciate.

I agree with that. I think it's because my fellow Americans get a bit too caught up with "hot chicks", "fast cars", and "explosions" to really appreciate wholesome entertainment.

But now we're getting off topic lol!
Once I'm 100% positive about who I was when I was an Angel I'm going to be trying like Hell to get my sword back. flower

Call it being a teenager who's played waaaay too much Assassin's Creed, but I'd dig a pair of hidden blades to be honest. Razz

Hmm... This actually gets me thinking. Do you think it'd be possible that the type of blade an Angel wields could have changed form with different incarnations? A European Bastard Sword turns into a Katana in the next life, which turns into a dagger in the next life, which turns into a RAD PAIR OF HIDDEN BLADES IN THE NEXT. *ahem* Food for thought. lol!

It's entirely possible that, as the weapon is an extension of the soul of the wielder that the form of the weapon changes with the customs and preferences of the incarnation who wields it. In some ways it is as it's expected to be.

I was just thinking that perhaps the image of the angel with a fiery sword refers to the sword being a soul blade rather than actually on fire.

Interesting theory. It was Michael with the flaming sword, right? If so, this may be because he had a fiery temper, personality, etc and his sword, being an extension of himself, represented his dominant traits. Very Happy

I've never thought of it that way, but it's possible.

Michael was the leader of the army so his energy would be fierce.

I'm more inclined to think it was displayed as fiery as a euphemism for the spirituality of it. The halos put on the head of angels and deities depict the glow that supposedly emanates from them, so I think the fire on the sword is kind of the same thing.
